Hold on, we can get this...
Written by Father Ted Crilly and Father Dougal Maguire*, "My Lovely Horse" was a infamous Eurosong entry for Ireland during the 1990s.
Obviously, with great credit to Nin Huugen and the Huugen Notes for the musical inspiration that turned this already lyrical classic into a seminal hit. Something we were incredibly keen to celebrate in the form of one of our bestselling t-shirts.
Originally conceived as a rap, we understand that the lyrics were done first before fitting the tune around it.
My Lovely Horse,
Running through the field,
Where are you going,
With your fetlocks blowing,
In the wind.
I want to shower you with sugar lumps,
And ride you over fences,
I want to polish your hooves every single day,
And bring you to the horse dentist.
My lovely horse,
You’re a pony no more,
Running around,
With a man on your back,
Like a train in the night,
Like a train in the night!

*We know that in real life the song wasn't actually penned by two fictional characters. It was written by Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy. But this is a comedy blog. What did you expect?
